Join Family Network for Deaf Children and BCEDAccess Society for an empowering and informative session that supports families in navigating the K–12 education system. This workshop is designed to help you understand your child’s rights, discover useful tools for advocacy, and learn how to take meaningful steps toward equitable access to education.

Kim Block is the Chair of the BCEDAccess Society and a mother of two neurodivergent children with learning disabilities. She is fluent in ASL and has over 20 years of experience working and volunteering in the Deaf community. Kim brings lived experience and practical insight as a passionate advocate for inclusive education.

‱ How to navigate education advocacy for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing students

‱ The role of BCEDAccess Society in supporting families

‱ How to use the Exclusion Tracker and why it matters

‱ What “filing a Section 11” means and how it may help your child

‱ Real-world tips for advocating in schools and understanding your rights


This session will include peer support strategies, tools, and system-level advocacy insights for immediate use.
