We’re looking for awesome, energetic people to help make camp unforgettable for Deaf children and youth. Whether you're applying as staff or contract staff, you’ll be working under the guidance of our DYT Supervisor. DYT EMPLOYMENT
SUMMER 2025

We’re hiring for the following roles: 

  • Team Leader (Canada Summer Jobs Grant) 

  • Camp Leaders (Canada Summer Jobs Grant) 

  • Contract Staff  

  • ISW’s (Inclusion Support Workers)  

  • Deaf Interpreters  

Who we’re looking for (for all roles): 

  • You’re fluent in ASL 

  • You’ve worked with kids or teens before & have the energy to keep up with them 

  • You’re a strong communicator with all kinds of people 

  • You’re mature, reliable, make good decisions, and keep healthy boundaries 

  • You’re ok with overnight camps, flexible with schedule changes/plans (because camp is full of surprises) 

  • You have transportation (car, bus, or carpooling). We meet at various Lower Mainland places  

  • You respect and value all the campers and families we serve 

  • You have First Aid? That’s a bonus! 

 

Bonus points if you bring extra skills in any of these areas: 

  • Diversity: You help create a respectful, inclusive environment 

  • Expression & Education: You’re great at weaving in language, critical thinking, and life lessons 

  • Access: You’re tuned in to different communication and learning styles

DYT Camp Leaders (several positions)

Position Type: Full-Time Summer Contract (10 weeks) 
Dates: June 16 – August 15, 2025 (Dates to be confirmed. Some evening training may happen earlier in June.) 
Schedule: Monday to Friday, hours will vary. Some weekend work may be required. 

IMPORTANT: This job depends on funding from the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. To be eligible, you must: 

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident 

  • Be between 17 and 30 years old 

  • Be legally allowed to work in Canada 

About the role

Are you great with kids and fluent in ASL? Want to make a real difference this summer? 
We’re hiring an energetic, organized Camp Leaders to join our Deaf Youth Today (DYT) summer team!  In this role, you’ll be part of a team that leads and supports fun, fast-paced summer programs for Deaf children and youth, ages 5–14, across BC. 

You’ll play a key role in creating safe, engaging spaces where kids can connect, play, and develop their ASL skills in a supportive environment. If you’re a confident leader who enjoys working with children, building community, and making things happen—we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Lead games and activities for Deaf and hard of hearing campers 

Build positive relationships with campers through fun, respectful interactions 

Keep campers safe and make sure they’re always supervised 

Follow all DYT policies, procedures, and safety guidelines 

Required Qualifications

Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) 

Able to work full-time for the entire contract period 

Able to join two overnight camps:  July 3–6 (Whistler) and July 28–Aug 1 (Gambier Island)
